Netflix sells three plans in the US and this is the floor one. It moved to $8.99 a month on 26 March 2026, up a dollar, in the same announcement that lifted both ad-free tiers.
The mechanics here are unusually simple, which is not the same as cheap. Netflix’s own plan page lists a monthly figure and nothing else: there is no annual prepay, no discount for committing to a year, and no free plan — the old Basic tier is listed as discontinued. You pay by the month, you can leave by the month, and the price is whatever Netflix has decided it is that month.
Extra members are priced on top rather than folded in: $7.99 a month with ads, $9.99 without. They attach to a plan; they are not a plan.
There is no stated renewal price because there is no first-term discount to renew away from.
