What AI subscriptions cost a year, and what the money actually buys
Sixteen paid tiers from five vendors, priced by the year and dated. The pattern underneath all of them is that you are no longer buying a feature set, you are buying an allowance.

“Not published” means we did not find a renewal price stated by the vendor on the date we checked. It is not a claim that the price changes on renewal, and it is not a claim that it doesn’t.
Google AI Ultra is $199.99 a month, listed on the App Store as “Google AI Ultra (30 TB)” and read on 21 August 2026 from the in-app purchase list for the Gemini app. Twelve months of it is $2,399.88.
Two things are worth writing down. The store item is labelled 30 TB while Google’s own plans page says Ultra storage starts at 20 TB, which is the sort of gap that usually means a tiered plan collapsed into one store listing — we print what each surface said and let it stand. And Google’s I/O 2026 announcement described a second, cheaper Ultra tier arriving alongside a price cut on this one, which we have not yet been able to price on a purchase screen, so it is not on the ledger.
The plans page describes Ultra as “up to 20x access” to Gemini. No renewal price was stated.
