What AI subscriptions cost a year, and what the money actually buys

Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month, listed on the App Store as “Google AI Plus (400 GB)” and read on 21 August 2026 from the in-app purchase list for the Gemini app. Twelve months of it is $59.88, which makes it the cheapest paid AI tier anywhere on this ledger.
It is also the only one under $10 a month that arrives with storage attached. Google’s own plans page describes the tier as “2x access” to Gemini against no subscription at all, which is a usage statement rather than a feature list, and is the clearest way of saying what the $4.99 is for.
No annual prepay appeared on the list we read, and no renewal price was stated, so the renewal column is Not published.
