What AI subscriptions cost a year, and what the money actually buys

This is the same Claude Pro plan as the web record, bought through the iOS app instead of a browser. It is $214.99 a year or $20.00 a month, read on 22 August 2026 from the in-app purchase list Apple publishes for the Claude app.
The monthly price is identical on both surfaces. The annual price is not: $214.99 in the app against $200.00 on the vendor’s own site, a difference of $14.99 a year, or 7.5%.
We are not going to speculate about why. What we will say is that the annual plan is the one place the two channels disagree, and that the cheaper of the two is the one nobody is prompted toward while holding a phone.
